Tom is an experienced art teacher. He has designed art classes for students from 7 to 18 years old. He has developed curricula and taught several 3-D art courses, including Wire, Baskets and Clay, Hand and Finger Puppets, Masks of Ancient Cultures, and Global Art. In addition Tom co-directs the “Art in Nature” summer day camp in Portland’s Leach Botanical Garden, where he co-wrote the science and art curriculum for children ages 9-12. As an adjunct professor, Tom developed and taught professional development courses to inner city teachers in Washington, DC. His focus was on using art in the classroom and developing classroom techniques to increase students' self esteem.
Tom is also an established potter whose work has appeared in numerous national and international competitions. One of his pieces was selected in the juried 2010 National Carved Vase Competition and exhibited in the Everson Museum in Syracuse, New York. This event was part of the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the completion of Adelaide Robineau’s famous "The Apotheosis of the Toiler" (1910) better known as "The Scarab Vase." Tom's pieces were also selected for exhibit in the international juried competition for the Annual Tokyo-New York Friendship Ceramic Competition exhibited at the Nippon Gallery in Manhattan.

As an art history teacher, Jane has developed curricula and taught courses in painting, drawing, illustration, printmaking, collage and art history. Her art classes at Village Home Resource Center won the highly respected Red Tricycle Award. In addition, Jane co-directed the "Art in Nature" summer day camp in Portland's Leach Botanical Garden, where she co-wrote the science and art curriculum for children ages 9-12.
Jane has a passion and talent for teaching art to individuals of all ages and fostering an engaging, fun, interactive and supportive learning environment. She exhibits a polished presentation that takes into account ethnic and cultural differences. Her artwork has been featured in newspapers, magazines and interior design marketing materials.
In addition to her extensive teaching experience, Jane is also a creative professional with many years' experience of designing and producing original artwork for private clients, galleries, ad agencies, retailers and designers. She owned and operated a professional residential and commercial mural painting business in Southern California and was often commissioned to paint murals throughout the US. Tom is an education professional with extensive experience creating K-12 and adult curricula, especially for art-related programs. His background also includes advertising copywriting, researching and writing grants and writing and editing technical and non-technical publications.
Jane is a creative visual arts instructor with extensive experience teaching and tutoring both children and adults. She has developed and presented workshops and lectures as well as designing and delivering art classes using a wide variety of media and techniques.
